Last weekend’s autocross at Thunderhill Raceway Park was one for the books. From start to finish, the event delivered exactly what we all hope for—great driving, great company, and zero complaints about the weather. Conditions were just about perfect, with clear skies and ideal temperatures that made for excellent grip and consistent runs throughout the day.
The course design really stood out this time. It struck a perfect balance between technical sections and flowing elements, keeping drivers engaged while still being approachable for newcomers. Whether you were chasing tenths or just getting a feel for your car, it was a layout that rewarded smooth driving and precision.
Saturday afternoon brought a special highlight with a visit from the Chico Corvette Club. It was great to welcome them out, and even better to see several of their members jump in and experience their very first autocross. Watching new drivers get comfortable and start pushing their limits is always one of the best parts of these events.
The grid had an awesome mix of cars, with a strong Corvette presence ranging from C3 all the way up to C8. Alongside them, we had a diverse lineup including a Subaru WRX, Nissan Z, BMW M3, Mazda Miata, Mini Cooper S, and a Cadillac CT4-V Blackwing—proof that autocross continues to bring together enthusiasts of all kinds.
Off the track, we may have discovered a new tradition. A group of us checked out Red 88, and it didn’t take long for it to become the new favorite spot. Great food, great atmosphere, and the perfect way to wrap up a full day at the track.
A special thanks goes out to Steve and Eric for setting up and managing the timing system—it ran flawlessly all weekend—and to Kevin for capturing incredible photos and videos that really brought the event to life.
All in all, it was an incredible weekend filled with fast runs, new faces, and plenty of laughs. October can’t come soon enough—we’re already looking forward to doing it all over again.
